MVHS Chorale Choir singing “Sleep” by Eric Whitacre at their 2011 Spring Concert.
This piece is exquisite if sung well. Eric Whitacre is one of my favorite composers, and I also love Robert Frost, whose poem inspired the lyrics to this song.
My school’s Advanced Chorale singing “Shenandoah” (arranged by Stacey V. Gibbs)
I can’t really express in words how much I adore this song and how much I loved singing it. “Shenandoah” is one of my favorite American folk songs already, and this is quite possibly the most gorgeous arrangement of the song I’ve ever heard. The emotions I felt while singing it and the emotions I feel whenever I hear it… well, that’s what music is all about. This is one of those songs that has the ability to bring tears to my eyes… or make me sob.
